Iolite

Iolite has a particularly delicate and pretty violet blue color unlike any other gemstone. Thin slices of Iolite were used as the world’s first polarizing filter by Viking explorers to filter the haze and glare of the sun - allowing them to navigate the vast oceans upon which they sailed.

Iolite is said to continue its tradition of aiding in a clear vision by leading the wearer to inner knowledge, increased spiritual insight, and help with viewing an issue from both sides clearly.

While it is not as well known as its blue counterparts, Sapphire and Tanzanite, this pleasing blue gemstone is gaining widespread popularity for its beauty and unique display of different shades of color.
